I don't like cricket, I love it

As you all know, I am partial to a bit of sunshine and a bit of sport, so I was only to happy to make my way down to the cricket to celebrate my cousin Barker's birthday.

We had such a rad day.....a bit of beer.....a bit of sunshine.....a bit of cricket.....a bit more beer.....ending with birthday dinner on Florida Road.

Happy Birthday Barks!
Wishing you only good things for the year ahead

Fishing - it's not a real sport anyway

That's me proudly holding the my HUGE fish

Personally, fishing is something that I have never understood.  You stand for hours on the side of a dam waiting for a fish to decide that it is hungry enough to eat your fake worm....all the while having to be quiet so that you don't "scare the fish away".  Now those who know me, will know that I am anything but a quiet person and a struggle to sit for longer than a minute without talking - fishing is a challenge!

Who am I to stand in the way of challenge though, or to deny my cousin Kate (you can see her in the background there) an outing to the dam.  So I donned my new sunnies (a Christmas present from Oakley - thanks guys), grabbed the pink fishing rod and a Hunters Dry and headed down to the dam.

We were there for the sum total of 90 mins and we caught one fish....my fish....the one you can see in the pic above....I LOVE FISHING....just so long as I don't have to touch the bait or the fish!

I Heart Oakley

There are lots of things that I love about my life, but definitely one of the best reasons to be me is that I am proudly an Oakley Project Pink Girl (have been since 2007).  What does that mean I hear you ask....allow me to explain....

It means that I am part of a group of girls (who live all over the country) who are brand ambassadors for Oakley.  Basically, they give us awesome eyewear and arrange rad get-togethers like going sand boarding or wine tasting on bikes or weekends away in Stellenbosch where we spend time in the company of the other brand ambassadors...its FAB!

In return we just go on living our lives wearing Oakley sunnies and give them feedback from time to time...I'll be honest, it is a pretty sweet deal!  Fashionable, comfortable eyewear that is actually looking after my eyes....can you say bum-in-the-butter!

Anyway, I digress.  So I was chilling in the pool today when the doorbell rang.  When I went to answer it, I was met by a delivery service man....who had a parcel for me....

Thank you Trace and Dawnie for my AMAZING Christmas surprise!  I love, love, love my new sunnies and am going to put good use to all the Elizabeth Arden goodies....I really am a spoiled girl!

On the road again

After an 18 hour drive, The Farmer and I are finally home.  We left Cape Town this morning at 4am - it was still dark.  It is now 9pm - and it is dark again.  What. a. long. trip.

Sad as I was to leave Cape Town, she saw us off with a beautiful sunrise - can't ask for more than that!  The trip was a was a bit slow, but that is what you get when you drive that route in the a 1990 Citi Golf...getting to 120km per hour is a bit of a challenge (especially in a headwind)....gotta love it!

On the plus side, we made a couple of calls into my favourite roadside restaurant (their cheese and mushroom burger is the way of the future...just saying) and I arrived home to a happy kitty who had already settled in at my parents home....typical little Madam!

The road ahead...how awesome are those clouds!

Cat on a Plane

The day has come for Maddie to leave Cape Town.  Shame.  She really isn't happy about it.  I tried to tell her that it was gonna be ok, I even bought her an awesome travel house so that she could travel with her chicken (compliments PH) and her blanket, but she still isn't loving me.

She is flying back with my Mum and my sister tonight and my Dad and I are driving back tomorrow....travel safely Miss Madam...see you in PMB in a few days

Home is where your heart is

The saying goes that "home is where your heart is", but what is a girl to do when her heart is in two places at the same time?

My family live in KZN and my best friends live in Cape Town (and Reno...hi Erin).  After lots of sleepless nights I decided that for better or worse, Durbs was where I wanted to be, so this month I'm packing up my house and my precious cat Maddie and heading back to up the coast.

I have no idea what awaits me there because I haven't got that far yet.   So far, the plan is to go home and enjoy the holidays with my family.  After that, I will make my way to Durbs, move into a new flat with my sister (very excited about this), find a new job (not so excited about this) and find my "space" in this new city.

Scared........a little bit
Excited.......definitely
Ready to show Durbs what I am made of.....hell yes! :)

I hope you'll join me for the ride
